Meet Savannah Travis (she/her)

I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Savannah (she/her) and I’m a queer and chronically ill therapist dedicated to supporting teens and adults in reconnecting with their authentic selves and healing their relationships. My work is strongly informed by my background as a dancer and a massage therapist, and I love teaching clients about how stress and trauma affects our bodies and nervous systems.
My focus on chronic illness stems from my own experiences of struggling to find clinicians who actually understood the grief, loss, and despair that come from long-term disease or illness. I also recognize how illness affects our relationships, and I am passionate about supporting relational systems in navigating the challenges associated with health issues. Additionally, I support folks who have had negative experiences interacting with the Western medical system, including medical gaslighting, medical racism, fatphobia, and medical trauma.
As a queer clinician, I love working with queer individuals, couples, and families on all issues related to sexuality and gender identity. Whether you are coming out to a family member, managing gender dysphoria, or just exploring the elements of a queer romantic relationship, I offer a compassionate and affirming space to process and grow.
Therapeutic Style
Working with me is a collaborative experience, and I believe that individual and relational healing is vital for collective liberation. I utilize parts-work as a way to understand your system’s numerous strategies for coping with trauma and systemic adversity, and follow the wisdom of your inner child. My style is warm, compassionate, gently challenging, and trauma-informed, ensuring that clients feel seen, heard, and supported. While working from a body-based lens, I also draw from IFS, attachment theory, and EMDR to support trauma processing and relational rebuilding
I take a systemic approach to therapy, meaning I consider how people’s lives are shaped by family systems, community, and cultural narratives. I affirm and welcome clients with diverse neurotypes, ethnicities, and relationship structures. Additionally, I fully believe that therapy is political; my work in informed by anti-racist, anti-genocide, and human-rights-centered beliefs.
Special Interest
I have a special interest in working with people diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) since I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2018. Gut issues like IBD hold unique levels of stigma and pose particular obstacles in relationships and intimacy. I am also expanding my studies of the field of Gastropsychology, which explores how gut health impacts mental health.
Outside the Office
I’m a daughter, sister, partner, friend, and cat mom. I enjoy long walks, camping, dancing, traveling, baking, checking out plant-based restaurants, watching the WNBA, and spending quality time with loved ones. Above all, I am a lifelong learner with a passion to help others thrive!
